Rockway high school studentWhat participants say
“Just imagine: a school where everyone knows one another and everyone tries to help the other. A school where teachers say, ‘Students are also human beings’.  That is exactly what Rockway is for me.  No wonder I don't want to leave here.”

A very different kind of school
Rockway’s classes are small and the teachers are friendly and helpful. You easily make new friends. You have the opportunity to meet people and get to know the country. At the end of your stay, you speak English as naturally as a native. In addition, Rockway offers its students a wide array of leadership development opportunities. Rockway students graduate ready to pursue their dreams, eager to make a difference, and prepared for life’s challenges. Rockway welcomes students of all faiths and perspectives, and encourages respect and curiosity amid diversity.

Rockway high school students

A small school for a big world
This high school prepares students to be responsible, globally-minded, compassionate, and reflective learners. Rockway’s small size promotes a fun and friendly learning environment, and ensures that no student is lost in a crowd. A wide range of extra-curricular activities, including strong programs in competitive sports and music, offers an outlet for almost every interest. A robust student exchange program has sent Rockway students to visit France, Germany, Jordan, Guatemala, China, Labrador and other parts of Canada.

Rockway high school studentsFor almost 40 years, Rockway has invited a small number of highly motivated students from around the world. They come to improve their English, graduate from a very well recognized Canadian high school and prepare themselves for studying in universities or other institutions. The school limits international student enrolment to 10 % to ensure good academic preparation for all students within a Canadian cultural context. Applying early is therefore important.

For open-minded students
Rockway Mennonite Collegiate is a co-educational school for students in grades 6 through 12. It is located 100 km west of Toronto. This high school has approximately 350 students. About 50% of the students are from Mennonite congregations. There are 20 other Christian denominations represented, as well as students of other faiths or with no religious affiliations. The program of studies is based on curriculum guidelines provided by Ontario’s Ministry of Education. Most graduates go on to university.

Toronto CN TowerOrganized Social Activities
Rockway has an active International Student club that meets for a monthly activity geared towards making new friends, having fun and enjoying some of our distinctly Canadian culture. Some of these trips include:

  • Day trip to Niagara Falls
  • International Student Retreat and Barbecue at a local camp
  • Skiing & Snow Boarding at Chicopee Ski Centre
  • International New Year's Party
  • Hockey game
  • Cooking
  • A day trip to Toronto

These three documents should be sent first by FAX, per e-mail or airmail addressed to Dr. Herminio Schmidt  info@english-in-canada.com.
